Project Description

FOREST⇌FIRE and its companion public and educational engagement platforms, Fire Circle and Forest Home, is a new project engaging the Truckee-Donner community living within the Tahoe National Forest. A culminating art installation will invite science-based solutions to catastrophic fire and offer an economically sustainable, hopeful future. FOREST⇌FIRE is a partnership between Truckee Donner Recreation & Park District, UC Berkeley’s Sagehen Creek Field Station and Nevada County Arts Council.

Organization Summary

Truckee-Donner Park and Recreation District provides two key regional arts centers – its Community Arts Center and its Community Recreation Center, which – between them – host year-round local exhibitions and touring shows in all disciplines. In addition, our Veterans Hall houses important historical artifacts and is open to public installations. We offer year-round educational programming – TK-lifelong learning. We are home to an ice rink, a community swimming pool, six local parks, and Donner Lake Boat Ramp and Piers, all providing opportunities for local cultural recreation. TDPRD also oversees Ponderosa Golf Course and a variety of multi-use spaces for rental by our local community.
