With support from the California Arts Council, Timeless Infinite Light will create “Demasiado: Queer Latinx Excess,” an event activating the entire 22,000 square foot space of the Omni Commons in collaboration with California-based queer Latinx artists, activists, and archivists. At the intersection of community center and drag show, haunted house and organizing meeting we imagine an extravaganza where the richness of queer Latinx culture in CA is an act of resistance and community nourishment.
As we begin our 5th year, we have released 19 books of new poetry and text art. All of our forthcoming titles (and over 85% of our total catalog) are feminist and decolonial projects by women, LGBTQ-identified writers, and people of color. We were recognized by the East Bay Express as Best Poetry Press in 2015 and as one of Entropy Magazine’s Best Presses of 2016, and are a founding member of Omni Commons, a radical community center in Oakland. We are committed to hosting boundary-breaking events (typically 5-10 per year) incorporating elements of workshop, performance, and installation. One of our recent events featured a performance by ieumsae, a Korean poongmul group, a rice-paper burning ritual, and a community-built shrine, alongside a set of 3 multiracial, queer, and trans readers. We also work with other arts organizations to produce interdisciplinary festivals on topics ranging from disability activism (Sick Fest) to dance (SALTA is TIMELESS).
