Project Description

Rooted in the high-needs communities we serve, the mission of Tia Chucha’s Centro Cultural is to transform community in the Northeast San Fernando Valley and beyond through ancestral knowledge, the arts, culture, literacy, and creative engagement. Three community activists–renowned author Luis J. Rodriguez, his wife Trini Rodriguez, and their brother-in-law Enrique Sanchez–created this space of wellness and empowerment to correct the blatant neglect of a historically marginalized community they call home. Over the years, we have fashioned a unique brand of spirited neighborhood arts, programming, and literacy experiences to enhance, transform and empower lives of all ages and backgrounds. We encourage proactive well-being and therefore welcome the young and elderly to participate at all levels to foster growth, self-understanding, and appreciation of others.
