With support from the California Arts Council, the Turner Foundation—Since 1958 will provide a free out of school music education program for 45+ low-income students ages 6-18. CAC funds would support the director of music programs position, needed studio supplies, music production & outreach equipment, rent and utilities.
The Turner Foundation owns and operates two low-income apartment complexes in Santa Barbara. Each of these apartment complexes is staffed with a Community Learning Center, which offers education and enrichment programs for youth and adults. 1:1 after-school tutoring is offered daily, along with visual art, gardening, and dance. A high-quality music education program facilitates freedom of expression. College readiness and financial planning courses are also offered. Additional programs include the Turner Foundation’s Foundation House, a partnership with the YMCA’s Youth and Family Services to house and provide supportive services for 11 transitional age youth who were formerly homeless.
