Project Description

With support from the California Arts Council, THE IMAGINATION WORKSHOP INC will provide twenty weekly theater workshops with homeless veterans at New Directions for Veterans, led by professional theater artists, which will culminate in a professionally mounted theater work, open to the public, written and acted by the homeless veterans.

Organization Summary

IW currently serves homeless veterans at New Directions with weekly theater workshops. The most recent study conducted by Dr. Victoria Stevens, evaluatied a 10 week course for female homeless veterans through the New Directions Program at the Los Angeles VA confirmed the efficacy and importance of this unique form of creative therapeutic program as a crucial part of a multi-faceted treatment plan for veterans and any group of individuals who have suffered early, acute and or ongoing trauma.
