With support from the California Arts Council, Young Musicians of West Marin will provide weekly singing and musicianship classes to the Kindergarteners and first graders at Inverness School.
For over 50 years, the Dance Palace Community & Cultural Center has been a cornerstone of life in Point Reyes Station and West Marin. Founded in 1971 by local dancers, it began as a small studio and quickly evolved into a dynamic hub for arts, education, and community gathering. In the late 1980s, the center moved into a former church, expanded with community support, and now features a gallery, kitchen, classroom, and large multipurpose hall.
Rooted in values of inclusion, creativity, and participation, the Dance Palace serves residents of all ages and backgrounds. It offers a rich array of arts and educational programs, including theater, dance, visual arts, and literary events—hosting over 70 in 2024 alone. Thanks to enhanced streaming technology, its reach now extends beyond West Marin to audiences nationwide.
The center is a gathering place for West Marin’s diverse population of artists, educators, farmers, and environmentalists. It supports local nonprofits, public services, and community meetings, while also offering vital services for older adults such as Gentle Yoga, Senior Lunch, and lifelong learning.
Youth and family programs are central to its mission. In 2024, the Dance Palace awarded over $17,000 in scholarships and free classes to students, 40% of whom come from multilingual households. Offerings include Baby Gym, summer camps, and after-school music, art, and ballet classes.
New initiatives like the Curated Concert Series provide a professional platform for local musicians, highlighting West Marin’s growing music scene. Through its diverse programming and enduring community spirit, the Dance Palace continues to nurture creativity and strengthen the cultural fabric of the region.
