Project Description

With support from the California Arts Council, THE CREARTIVE FREEDOM FAMILY will use the grant to help fund operating expenses generated in the production of our 2022 creative program: instructor class payments, guest instructor workshops, creative supplies, rent, needed sound system, two student showcases, and one professional dance performance.

Organization Summary

Our core programs are:
The Nappy Soul Performing Arts Development Program (This innovative creative dance training program includes folk dance workshops, visual arts workshops, Pilates & Tai Chi, all for well-rounded development.)
Artist Career Development Program
Our Space Program (A shared space program for local, low-income artists)
Beat the Soul (Freestyle dance sessions)
Open Floor Night (Monthly, Friday evening community gathering for various forms of artistic and soulful expressions. Includes dancers, poets, spoken word, singers, musicians, speakers, etc. Each month, 1-2 visual artists are featured through an exhibition of their work during Open Floor.
