With the support of California Arts Council, Teatro Nahual will offer two theater arts workshops in Spanish at Escuela Popular in East San Jose. The workshops will include acting classes, music, staged production, and a play. This grant will help pay honorariums to the acting, music, and set designer teachers.
Teatro Nahual is a group of playwrights, actors, musicians, designers, painters, and educators. Our art form is manifested through the theater arts entirely in Spanish. A strong commitment, professionalism, dedication, and passion for the theater arts have been the core components for promoting the Spanish language plays for the Hispanic population, and for people interested in expanding their cultural and language appreciation in California. Teatro Nahual also offers Spanish language acting classes for all ages from 2004 until now. Kids, youth, and adults have been attended our acting classes, learn, and practice how to be good actors. Our acting course is based on a research investigation of Verónica Meza, “Propedeutic Course for Actors,” written from the National Autonomous University of Mexico, UNAM. Based on the research project, we have created a methodology to train actors. Teatro Nahual is proud to gather community members, and train them before acting in our plays.
