With support from the California Arts Council, the TAIKO COMMUNITY ALLIANCE will engage Gayle Yamauchi-Gleason as facilitator for “Vision 2020,” a gathering to shape TCA’s next strategic plan. Modeled after the 2013 “Launch Meeting” (also facilitated by Ms. Yamauchi-Gleason), this meeting will reflect the diversity of the taiko community in gender, race, ability, geography, and age, combining a grassroots approach with data from the 2020 Taiko Census to launch TCA’s next phase of development.
The North American Taiko Conference is TCA’s largest program. The goal of this gathering is to share the art form, enhance players’ understanding of context, foster group development, and strengthen networks. Other TCA programs include educational videos and webinars, mentorship, regional connections, supportive marketing, and the collection and stewardship of taiko-related data. Although TCA is a membership organization, programs are available to anyone who is interested, regardless of membership status.
