With support from the California Arts Council, TA’YER will present “RUNAWASI YEAR TWO = OUR HOME, MULTIGENERATIONAL COMMUNITY THEATER WORKSHOPS & PERFORMANCES. This bilingual project partners the Pasadena/Altadena Coalition of Transformative Leaders, the Pasadena Community Job Center and TA’YER. The multi-generational project is a ‘hands-on’ theater workshops and the presentation of short plays for the stage and radio which highlight the dreams, aspirations and lives of the immigrant community.
The name of our organization, TA’YER, is a phonetic enunciation of the Spanish word taller, which means “workshop.” As the name implies, we develop new theater pieces through a workshop process. We educate and support adult immigrant communities to find their own voice: use their own words or adapting short dramatic texts to develop literacy, a sense of aesthetics, creativity and curiosity for learning and exploring.
