Project Description

With this grant from the California Arts Council, Support for Intertribal Gatherings will train and develop the leadership of two emerging California tribal artists, Kanyon Sayers Roods, Mutsen Ohlone, and Miye Tom, Pomo and Piute. These emerging artists will be supported by elder, Mary Jean Robertson, Cherokee. Mary Jean has co-led the organization for 8 years. We will continue to produce our annual summer culture camp and our Big Time dance gathering in the fall.

Organization Summary

We produce an annual week long summer camp and an annual 3 day tribal dance gathering. We completed a large celebration for the 50 years reunion of the occupation of Alcatraz Island by Indians of All Tribes in 2019. In 2025 we are developing a new program to feature tribal water songs.
