With support from the California Arts Council, State Street Ballet will present a new production of “The Little Mermaid” in Fresno and Santa Barbara for 8,000 students. Choreographers will incorporate American Sign Language into the choreography as Ariel’s way of communicating on land. Along with dance steps, attending students will learn some sign language with the goal of fostering discussion, building awareness, and encouraging a wholesome approach to inclusion of people with disabilities.
