Southland Sings is a creative organization, whose mission is to use the arts to unlock potential in every life we reach, we believe in the value of the arts and arts enhanced learning in the classroom and the community. We believe in the power of music to heal and to change the course of a person’s life. The measure of our success has been in the increasing demand for our services.

Through their participation in our My Story, My Voice: Poetry to Song program, our students develop performing arts and vital life skills through experiential activities. Specifically, our participants learn by creating poems, lyrics, music and dialogue under the guidance of professional teaching artists.

Participants develop team-building and cooperation skills by working in small groups, developing confidence and enhanced self-esteem by performing in front of a live audience. Our youth are guided to express their emotions and conflicts In a safe and supportive environment.
