With support from the California Arts Council, ZIMMER CHILDREN’S MUSEUM AND YOUTHINK BY SHAREWELL will provide after school arts programming to middle and high school youth in the low-income communities where they live. youTHink Neighborhood Programs include weekly classes in dance, theater, photography and film making that provide participants with a semester-long engagement opportunity that elevates their voice, develops their leadership capacity and improves their artistic skill.
The “Cayton” offers 21,000 square feet of play-based exhibits, art studios, a state-of-the-art theatre, and multipurpose space just blocks from the Pacific Ocean in the heart of Santa Monica. Throughout the year, we offer a robust calendar of arts and cultural activities, public programs, field trips, camps, classes and workshops for children up to age 8 and their families. Admission to the museum is free, or pay-as-you-wish, to create one less barrier for children to visit the Cayton. Beyond our museum walls, our community programs bring play into Los Angeles neighborhoods through partnerships with schools and non-profit organizations. These programs are designed to engage children in the creative, performance, and visual arts to ignite creativity where it’s needed most.
