With support from the California Arts Council, Self Help Graphics and Art will build on the 45-year legacy of Dia de los Muertos as an economic development tool for the artistic and working communities of L.A.’s Eastside in partnership with Leadership for Urban Renewal Network. The partnership will focus on strengthening entrepreneurial and small business opportunities within this cultural tradition and work to integrate groups like street vendors and other non-artists.
Self Help Graphics serves 30,000 community members and upwards of 100 artists annually through our programming. That includes:
-Our curatorial offerings: Our Exhibitions and Archive, the Professional Printmaking Program, the Barrio Mobile Art Studio, and the Beyond the Press Artist Residency program
– Free and low-cost arts education programming for youth, families and individuals
– Free community arts programs such as our Dia de los Muertos programming and Wellness Wednesdays
