With Support from the California Arts Council, Sanchez Art Center will provide quality VAPA standards-based art education to the only public school in Pacifica that, with its current socio economic demographic, would otherwise not have an art instructor/art classes. This 2019-2020 project will provide each of the 560 students of Sunset Ridge Elementary School with 15 lessons during the academic year. The program began in 2008, and was awarded the J. Russell Kent Award for innovation in 2014.
Sanchez Art Center envisions a community where art is accessible to people of all ages and backgrounds. We accomplish our mission and vision by providing free exhibitions by emerging and established California and west coast artists, arts education and community engagement on the San Mateo County coast, and affordable art studios for San Francisco Bay Area artists.
