With support from the California Arts Council, San Francisco Girls Chorus Inc will engage the DeVos Institute of Arts Management as consultants for a strategic planning process. During the six-month process, consultants will work closely with SFGC’s planning committee to develop a comprehensive five-year plan that will articulate a strategic direction, formulate key strategies in all areas of operations, and develop detailed implementation and financial plans for the future of SFGC.
Each year, over 350 singers from 45 Bay Area cities ranging in age from 4 – 18 participate in the SFGC’s programs. The organization consists of a five-time GRAMMY Award-winning professional-level performance, recording, and touring ensemble and a six-level Chorus School training program. The San Francisco Girls Chorus School offers a program of unparalleled artistic and educational excellence, designed to take young girls from their first introduction to the art of choral singing through a full course of choral, vocal, and theoretical instruction. The Chorus School is made up of six levels: non-auditioned Prep Chorus, Training Chorus, and Levels I-IV, which choristers move through as they develop musically. Choristers spend one, two or three years in each level. The carefully structured training stages are designed specifically to increase technical skills, stamina and discipline in accordance with each chorister’s age and physical development.
