Project Description

With support from the California Arts Council, San Fernando Valley Youth Chorus will provide music and arts education programming for children and youth of diverse ethnic, cultural, and economic backgrounds in the San Fernando Valley, providing inclusive opportunities for artistic and personal growth through superior choral instruction, arts education, community outreach, and performance. The Chorus will continue to enrich the cultural fabric of our community through the transformative power of music and the arts.

Organization Summary

Providing Affordable, Quality Music Education Since 1992
Parents know that a well-rounded education includes music. In addition to the cognitive benefits of studying music, children also learn cooperation, study skills, self-confidence and poise. For less than the cost of a single instrument or just a few private lessons, singers in the Valley Youth Chorus enjoy an entire year of musical training and performance opportunities. The SFVYC presents an educational and enriching experience for the young singers as well as their audiences. Our music education includes singing, moving, listening, creating and performing. Additionally, community outreach is a component of our curriculum, bringing choral music to schools, senior citizen centers, non-profit agency partners and civic events. The SFVYC also offers two Summer programs: Summer Jam – a safe, fun place for children to discover and create, and REALarts – artistic tools to use in real life.
