With support from the California Arts Council, San Diego Dance Theater will continue building its ‘Aging Creatively Through Modern Dance’ sustained residency program. This community-driven project lead by Jean Isaacs alongside veteran teaching artists John Diaz and Yvonne Gagliardo provides free dance classes and performance opportunities to older adults in collaboration with local businesses and government in the San Diego county cities of Carlsbad, San Diego, and Chula Vista.

Past leadership of the company has expanded access to training and performances for dancers of many nationalities, races, ages and physical abilities. San Diego Dance Theater is known for cross-border projects, summer workshops, intergenerational and Aging Creatively classes (dance for seniors), and annual performance events: Emerging Choreographers Showcase & Awards (awarding new regional talent, 12 years), the Live Arts Fest supporting 11 unique dance artists (9 years), and the public’s favorite: Trolley Dances (26 years).
