With support from the California Arts Council, the San Diego Chinese Historical Society and Museum will revitalize our arts and cultural education programs for schools and community groups. Our Education Coordinator will work with our Curator and our Programs Coordinator to develop and promote our 6 program modules.
The SDCHM educates visitors by helping people understand the different histories, cultures, and perspectives of our multicultural society through exhibitions, family activities, and presentations. Exhibitions are the core of our public programming–both our permanent exhibition as well as the special exhibitions that we develop and/or host at one of our facilities in downtown San Diego. Other forms of programming extend from the Museum’s exhibitions and are tailored for delivery to each of the different age groups that we serve. Our Classroom Exhibit Presentations, for example, bring aspects of our exhibitions on Chinese and Chinese-American art, history, and culture to life through the interactive lectures that we provide for schools and community groups.
