With support from the California Arts Council, San Diego Children’s Discovery Museum will provide approximately 15 field trips to 750 students from Title-I schools throughout San Diego County with a tour of its facilities and outdoor sculptures accompanied with a guided “Recycled Masterpieces” art workshop. The tour will focus on three sculptures installed at the Museum that are made from reclaimed metal objects, which will be interpreted by professional arts educators.
Established in 2000, we offer purposeful play educational experiences for children ages 0-10, focusing on social-emotional learning (SEL) and STREAM (science, technology, reading, engineering, arts, and math). We aim to support children the most impacted by early childhood educational disparities during the earliest years when it matters most.
We provide a comprehensive range of services and programs, including 13,500 square feet of indoor and outdoor purposeful play areas and exhibits, cost-free daily educator-led experiences, a Mobile Children’s Museum, special STREAM events, sensory-friendly hours, after-school/summer camps, and STEM activity kits. Through our Access for All Initiative, we remove cost barriers to ensure access for all and extend a discounted admission rate of $1 per person to EBT/SNAP, CalFresh/WIC cardholders.
