Project Description

With support from the California Arts Council, SAM AND ALFREDA MALOOF FOUNDATION FOR ARTS AND CRAFTS seeks to rebuild the Maloof Teen program decimated by COVID. Part of the two-year Artful Living Initiative, this program would provide field trips for 200 students, with after-school experiences in art, artmaking and leadership.

Organization Summary

The Sam and Alfreda Maloof Foundation for Arts and Crafts encompasses a Smithsonian Affiliate museum, learning center, workshop and drought-tolerant Discovery Garden. Our educational programs consist of public tours; K-12 arts programming including field trips, in-school workshops and the Maloof Teen program; the Maloof Veterans Workshop, serving US military veterans; and Maloof Upper Barn Workshops, offering hands-on woodworking experiences. We also present art exhibitions, symposia and special events.The Maloof is listed in the National Register of Historic Places and a member of the Historic Artists’ Homes and Studios program established by the National Trust.
