Project Description

Organization Summary

Our specific goals are to…
To protect, practice, and preserve indigenous North America spirituality and spiritual ceremony

To provide safe locations where traditional indigenous North American ceremonies can be regularly held

To establish ways to pass on ancestral knowledge to future generations.
SIP offers programs, workshops and educational series that serve our community. We offer opportunities for people of all ages, ethnicity and financial backgrounds to participate in our arts programing.

SIP has worked to protect the sites where regularly scheduled indigenous North American ceremonies, healing programs, and events are conducted. These ceremonies include Sweat Lodges, Vision Quests, Young Women’s Coming of Age, and the Bear Dance Ceremonies. Other events and programs that we offer include presentations of local Indigenous Artists and Musicians, the Military Veteran Women’s Healing Circle and Retreats, HomeBoy Industries’ gatherings, the Hummingbird Women’s Drum Group, and the Women’s Talking Circle via Zoom twice monthly during the pandemic.

SIP provides programs that focus on community wellness for the modern Indigenous person or anyone wishing to connect with the Indigenous Arts with reverence. SIP has helped many community members struggling with mental health issues find a place in the community and feel welcome. We are coming from a decolonial native framework that attempts to address personal wounds in a way that reconnects humanity to the whole of the Earth, in a reciprocal way of giving as a foundation for life.
