With support from the CAC, Sacramento Theatre Company will provide, at no cost to the students, theatre arts integration classes during the school day within the 2020-2021 school year at Washington Elementary, John D. Sloat Elementary and Isleton Elementary schools, directly serving 664 students. STC will provide trained teaching artists to teach each classroom 12 theatre arts integration classes at all three schools.
STC annually produces professional theatre productions, including world premiers, new works, musicals, reading list classics, Shakespeare plays and a Cabaret series. We produce five to seven productions from the Youth series starring students from our School of the Arts. We are the only professional theatre to provide educational programming to Sacramento area youth both in school, after school and conservatory training. We offer a year long Young Professional Conservatory, ages 12-18, Pre Professional ages 6-13, seasonal theatre camps, a school partnership program in 14 schools resulting in fully mounted productions aligned with Common Core and VAPA standards, an Educators night and a school outreach program for nearly 15,000 students to attend our productions on subsidized tickets. Our goal is to reach into communities with little to no theatre arts contact with the purpose of engaging students, opening doors to creative outlets, fostering greater emotional awareness and building community. We proudly offer community partnership opportunities for local non profits whose mission resonates with one of our productions. We are home to hundreds of volunteers whose families have been a part of our legacy for decades. Our students often return later in life to share STC with their children.
