Project Description

With the support from the California Arts Council, SACRAMENTO GUITAR SOCIETY will offer the communities of Sacramento and Davis, CA free access to professionally conducted guitar orchestra for students at all levels. Past funding allowed us to expand our guitar orchestra during the 2018/19 fiscal year, and if awarded this grant for a 2nd year, we will be able to continue the momentum that we have built in the City of Sacramento and City of Davis, CA.

Organization Summary

• Produce high quality community concerts with international touring artists
• Host monthly meeting for members and the community at E. Claire Studios for the Performing Arts (a.k.a. “The Clara”)
• Fund & Host the Sacramento Guitar Orchestra, an open community orchestra to all ages
• Collect donated guitars and refurbish as needed for use by students enrolled in our year-round guitar instruction program
• Host annual Young Artists Showcase, featuring up-and-coming young students in our community who have excelled in the art of guitar
• Visit senior centers to bring beautiful classical guitar concerts closer to the elderly
