With support from the California Arts Council, RESOUNDING JOY INC will offer Sounds of Service, a continuum of music engagement, wellness, and therapy programming for our veterans, service members, and first responders. This program encourages creative expression, builds resilience, and supports the transition to civilian life for military-connected families, caregivers, and first responders. Over the two-year project period, we will offer private and group sessions in music therapy, wellness, and concerts that reach 500 participants and 800 audience members in San Diego County.
Resounding Joy delivers four core programs that provide a continuum of music engagement from clinical care to community-based wellness. Our Board-Certified Music Therapists (MT-BC) meet people where they are—serving individuals in hospitals, client homes, senior living communities, schools, community partner sites, our Music Wellness Center, and through virtual platforms—ensuring access, comfort, and connection.
Sounds of Healing supports children and families navigating medical, developmental, and emotional challenges. We serve children with chronic and acute conditions, developmental delays, autism, and other disabilities, as well as those experiencing grief, trauma, or end-of-life care. Through music, children and families find ways to express emotions, build coping skills, and experience moments of joy, connection, and relief during incredibly difficult times.
Sounds of Service improves the well-being of veterans, active-duty service members, and first responders. Through individual and group music-making—including guitar, drumming, songwriting, and shared musical experiences—participants work through PTSD, stress, pain, substance use, and suicide risk while rediscovering connection, identity, and a sense of purpose.
Sounds of Legacy engages older adults across the spectrum of aging, from active seniors experiencing isolation to individuals living with dementia, memory loss, and other age-related conditions. Music therapy sparks memory, supports communication, and creates meaningful moments of connection with caregivers and loved ones.
Sounds of Community expands access to music therapy and inclusive music experiences through partnerships with schools, libraries, parks, and community-based organizations—creating spaces where individuals can connect, express themselves, and feel a sense of belonging.
