With support from the California Arts Council Ragazzi Boys Chorus will pilot Community Choristers, focusing on beginner and intermediate boys needing substantial financial assistance. Success at Ragazzi requires broad support, beyond tuition relief. This program will help under-represented families navigate the wider Ragazzi experience by providing 50-70% of tuition (choral, camp, local tour), materials, uniforms, transportation, music theory tutoring, vocal coaching, and language support.
Ragazzi Boys Chorus provides comprehensive choral music education to choristers in over 30 San Francisco Bay Area communities from diverse backgrounds and walks of life. We believe in the power of music and the arts to change the lives of audiences and choristers alike.
Every chorister has access to participate in all aspects of the Ragazzi experience, including rigorous choral training, music theory, a summer camp with intensive rehearsals, regular performances, and annual tours. Compulsory camp and tours build a diverse community of musicians and leaders. Ragazzi choristers gain first-hand experiences learning that music and the arts transcend boundaries and cultures. Accessibility to our program is an important priority. Tuition assistance funds and extensive program support are provided to bridge income and program accessibility gaps.
6 levels are tailored to the needs of boys ages 5–18: Music & Movement (early childhood, ages 5–7), Primary (beginners, ages 7–11), Premiere (intermediate, ages 8–12), Avanti (advanced intermediate, ages 9–13), Concert Group (advanced, ages 10–14), and Young Men’s Ensemble (advanced changed voices, ages 13–18). Boys progress through the levels as they master musical skills.
