ArtsLB offers year-round programming and supports three levels of artistic activity: Public Art, Support for Local Artists and Arts Institutions, and Arts Learning. We are also spearheading the Long Beach 2028 Olympic Arts Coalition in preparation for the 2028 Olympic Games.

Public Art

Public Art is an essential component in fulfilling our mission. This artwork can take many forms including murals, sculptures, plays, or performances by dance groups or neighborhood musicians. At ArtsLB, we place a strong focus on hyperlocal public art through neighborhood-level initiatives. It is artwork that expresses the hopes, fears, and aspirations of that specific neighborhood, and is a key element in celebrating the unique diversity of our city.

Support for Local Artists and Arts Institutions

Our granting programs facilitate significant arts events and activities throughout the City of Long Beach, reaching every neighborhood with visual, media, literary, and performing art. These programs have resulted in art events such as the 16th Annual Cambodia Town Parade and Culture Festival, the LGBTQ Center’s 32th Annual QFilm Festival, and concerts by the Long Beach Community Band.

Arts Learning

Our arts learning programs typically serve about 3,200 elementary, middle, and high school students attending Long Beach Unified School District Schools. Since 1976, robust arts learning programs have been one of the principal drivers in our efforts to accomplish our mission. We have also expanded our arts learning programs to serve more schools, and have recently adapted our programming to serve students with disabilities.

Long Beach 2028 Olympic Arts Coalition

We are spearheading a new coalition of artists, arts organizations, and economic development leaders in preparation for the 2028 Olympic Games. This coalition will ensure that our local arts and culture are prominently represented during the many Olympic events that will be held in Long Beach.
