Project Description

The McKinley PTA is the parent-teacher association for McKinley School and Petaluma Accelerated Charter School (PACS) in Petaluma, California. We serve 520 TK-8th grade students. Although McKinley was established in in 1912 and has served families in the middle of town for over a century, it has recently begun to attract families from throughout Petaluma thanks to a variety of unique programs, including STEM learning and accelerated classes, that ensure that ALL of its scholars become caring, self-directed, and reflective learners who celebrate diversity and advocate to make the world a better place. As a Title I school, about half of our students are socio-economically disadvantaged and more than a third are English language learners.

Our PTA is made up of hard-working parents and teachers who pool their talents and resources to provide practical support for our school. Our work focuses on identifying what students, families and teachers feel are our community’s greatest needs then working to fund those essential school resources, as well as advocating at the local, state and national levels. Our goal is to foster each child’s health, safety, and quality of education.
