With support from California Arts Council, Peninsula Youth Theatre will produce full-scale, professionally designed musical theatre productions cast with 100% youth actors. Youth participants hone their acting, movement, and singing abilities under the mentorship of professional artists while developing transferable life skills such as responsibility, collaboration, and leadership.
Our School of Performing Arts offers drama classes to children ages 4 and up on-site at our rehearsal studio after school and during school year holiday breaks.
MainStage musical productions offer students ages 5 and up the opportunity to perform in full-scale, professionally designed shows.
PYTeens is our teen intensive program for ages 12-18. Members serve as assistant directors, choreographers, and stage managers for our productions mentored by professional artists.
Our Stories on Stage productions are smaller in scale. They are performed in an intimate black-box setting and are targeted to K-5, school-age audiences. The program brings beloved children’s stories to life each month of the school year.
We host summer camps at multiple community venues in the greater NE Santa Clara County area. “Theatre in the Park” is our flagship summer camp program. In these two-week camp sessions, campers create everything involved in putting on show – props, costumes, sets, and characters. Each session culminates in a free public performance at an outdoor venue.
School Play in a Box is an after-school theater arts program held on-site at schools, making it our most easily accessible program of all. The school supplies the actors, and PYT supplies “in a box” a director, script, simple sets, and support material to produce a play. Students learn the basics of acting, storytelling, and theatre terminology, and the program culminates in a performance open to all children and parents at each school.
