The Playhouse creates live performances on its historic stage to enrich, challenge, and bring joy to its community. They have a long standing commitment of working with local artists, craftspeople, and technicians, and a national prominence rare for arts organizations operating within its budgetary range.

Beginning every September, The Playhouse produces 5 productions, which includes at least one musical and one new work. Recent seasons have included work from playwrights Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, Lauren Yee, Karen Zacarías, the performance group Culture Clash, actors Alfred Molina, Nia Vardalos, directors Diane Rodriguez, B.D. Wong, David Lee and co-productions with local companies East West Players, Deaf West Theater, and Rogue Artists Ensemble. Under Feldman, The Playhouse launched PlayhouseLIVE, its digital stage. This was an invaluable platform during the pandemic as it created a way for the company to maintain its connection with audiences through online fully-realized productions, classes and discussions. They will continue this programming after the pandemic, as it speaks to the very vision of The Playhouse’s response to creating access to the arts. Each season, over 60,000 audience members attend performances, and host thousands of students at their shows for free. In order to remain an accessible institution, every show no matter how popular, has $30 tickets available.
