Project Description

Parson’s Nose Theater is a professional, Actors Equity non-profit 501(c)3 theater company located in Pasadena. We specialize in family-friendly 90-minute adaptations of classic plays presented by professional actors. We believe that the classics need revitalization if they are to survive. We believe in raising the bar for quality family entertainment. We are educating and inspiring the artists and audiences of tomorrow.

Parson’s Nose Theater defines the classics as works of literature that have had a profound and lasting historical impact on American culture. By focusing on works that have elegantly withstood the test of time due to the universality of their messages, Parson’s Nose Theater has been remarkably successful in achieving its underlying purpose: to bring diverse groups of people together to share an emotionally moving experience.

Since our founding in 2000, Parson’s Nose Theater has presented over 85 professional 90-minute presentations of classic theater, 40 Reader’s Theater presentations, and we have reached over 80,000 adults and children throughout Los Angeles County with our work. Our performances have included critically acclaimed adaptations of works by Shakespeare, Moliere, Goldoni, Belasco, Grimm, Andersen, Twain and others.

In 2020, Parson’s Nose Theater began podcasting our plays in the style of radio theater. So far this season we have produced 16 podcasts of classic works by authors from Dickens to Twain to Shakespeare to Hans Andersen, available free to the public worldwide. To date, we have reached over 8,500 listeners in over 10 countries with 50 podcasts. These entertaining and accessible adaptations and translations are created by Artistic Director, Lance Davis.
