Downtown Oxnard’s Cultural District is shaped by Indigenous roots, agricultural labor, and generations of immigration that make it the largest, most diverse, and most fragile city on the Central Coast (85% BIPOC). Anchored by the Oxnard Transit Center, Botanical Gardens (forthcoming), Carnegie Library/Museum, historic Pagoda (where César Chávez frequently spoke), Heritage Square, Teatro de las Americas, and Oxnard Performing Arts Center, the district reflects a rare cross-border fusion of Mexican, Japanese, Indigenous, African-American, Filipino, and Californian creative expression. Beloved traditions- from Juneteenth (34th annual), Guelaguetza, and Fiestas Patrias to Nardcore punk shows, lowrider cruises, fandangos, and Ballet Folklórico- showcase deep cultural pride and resilience despite chronic underinvestment. Funds will support logo/brand development, brochure (inserted in Visit Oxnard magazines), wayfinding signage, website, social media, a marketing campaign, and launch celebration to boost awareness and activation.
OPAC, the Oxnard Performing Arts Center Corporation, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to providing dynamic cultural and community programming at the Oxnard Performing Arts & Convention Center and beyond. As a creative hub in Ventura County, we present a diverse array of events, performances, and educational opportunities that bring people together through the power of the arts.
Our programming spans from large-scale mainstage productions and campus-wide festivals to intimate workshops and lectures, ensuring there is something for everyone. We proudly showcase both emerging and established local and international artists, fostering a vibrant cultural scene that enhances Oxnard’s creative landscape.
