Ojai Playwright Conference’s mission is to develop unproduced plays of artistic excellence from diverse writers both emerging and established, and to nurture a new generation of playwrights.

For over 20 years, Ojai Playwrights Conference (OPC) has been recognized for its diversity of creative work and writers; a unique model that rigorously challenges the playwright yet provides an ambience that nurtures the writer thereby stimulating the creation of new and daring plays. The result has been a body of new playwriting that address political, social, environmental and cultural issues relevant to our contemporary society, and that creates an ever-expanding community of groundbreaking voices for the American theatre and its literature. We endeavor to fulfill the vision of the playwrights by supporting and enhancing their artistic values, beliefs, discourses and forms they strive to realize in their new work.
