OTC serves as the resident producing company of the historic Sunshine Brooks Theater. Originally constructed in 1936, the facility operated as a movie house for several decades before being renovated in 1995 for use as a live performance venue. While the theater has long served the Oceanside community, OTC’s current leadership has prioritized ensuring that programming is intentionally reflective of and responsive to the diverse populations who live here today.

OTC enhances Oceanside’s cultural arts sector by providing thousands of residents and visitors with opportunities to participate in a wide range of arts and cultural experiences:

Mainstage Theatre Productions: Three to four fully staged productions annually in the 197-seat Brooks Theatre.

Arts Unite Cultural Programming: Community-informed festivals, performances, and events celebrating cultural heritage and identity.

Music Series: Concerts spanning genres including jazz, blues, rock, gospel, Americana, and mariachi.

STAGES Workforce Development Program: Hands-on training for college students in performance, technical theatre, and nonprofit administration.

Arts Education Programming: A five-week Summer and ten-week Fall Youth Theatre Academy, a 10-week musical theatre program for underserved youth, and after-school arts instruction in regional schools.

Film Series: OTC shows films that are reflective of our community, including documentaries, classic films, skate films, surf films, holiday films and popular blockbusters.

Brooks Theatre Art Gallery: OTC hosts monthly art exhibitions.

Improv at the Brooks: Offers a range of weekly improvisation classes, workshops and performances.
