Project Description

With support from the California Arts Council, OTC will create a re-opening plan for the Historic Brooks Theater to meet new COVID health/safety requirements, continue to present visual and performing arts productions via an online platform until reopening, hold a virtual fundraising gala and prepare for the 2021season opening production.

Organization Summary

OTC is a professional live theater company which operates the 200 seat Historic Brooks Theater in downtown Oceanside, in the epicenter of one of only 14 Cultural Districts as designated by the State of California.
OTC produces, annually, four mainstage play productions (including dramas, comedies, & musicals) and four to six music series concerts. OTC provides a four week summer theater youth camp (acting & technical instruction for 50 students ages 8-17) which culminates in four performances of a musical production and a Youth Theater Outreach.
In addition, the Brooks Theater lobby is an art gallery for visual arts with OTC participating in the local First Friday Art Walk Showcase. OTC collaborates with the Oceanside Art Museum Artists’ Alliance, the Sargent Art Group, The Art of Autism and others to showcase local visual artists.
The Theater and adjacent Studio space are rented to local civic, cultural, and school organizations such as, Visit Oceanside, OCAF (Film Festival), City Library/Parks/Rec, dance troop shows, etc.
