Oaktown Jazz Workshops is an Oakland-based, cultural education organization dedicated to passing on the tradition of jazz music to young people through year-round classes and workshops with world-class jazz musicians, performance opportunities, and multi-generational concerts and presentations for the entire community. The mission of Oaktown Jazz Workshops is to promote, preserve, and perform jazz music so that all youth – particularly under-served youth – develop a sense of ownership and pride in jazz as a uniquely American cultural tradition.
