With support from the California Arts Council, NAMBA PERFORMING ARTS SPACE, INC will provide accessible cultural performing arts and education programs to local and greater Ventura County regional residents. NAMBA provides arts access to an underserved community in the heart of one of the lowest quartile communities in Ventura County. Operational funds will be used to support payroll, facilities and programs. NAMBA will continue building upon relationships that support diverse programming at our venue including; International Folk Musicians, Fringe Festival Theatre, and Cultural Dance education. Since Covid, NAMBA has been sustained by volunteers and 1099 contracted staff. Now booked three months in advance, to adequately conduct operations, NAMBA is looking to fill one full time position and three part time positions. CAC operational funding will support this transition.
NAMBA provides an array of Live Dance, Theatre and Music programs to enhance the cultural growth and stability of Ventura County residents; provides a lab space for emerging artists to explore new works; provides public access to a variety of dance and theatre classes as well as pay as you may community music, dance and theatre workshops. NAMBA recently added summer musical theatre programs for children in collaboration with Creative Arts Academy and Ventura Actors Studio and is growing theatre offerings by partnering with Hollywood Fringe Festival (another 501c3) bringing runs of original and culturally relevant Theatre to Ventura audiences. NAMBA provides an intimate showcase black box theater for performers, life long learners and educators. We provide graphic design, marketing, ticketing and front and back of house services to touring and up and coming cultural artists. NAMBA provides low cost on-going rental space for local dance instructors, performing artists creating new works, and rehearsal and recital space for local performing arts teachers. We maintain affordable weekly shows that highlight culture and diversity. The theater is small, 80 seats, giving attendees the opportunity to experience live performances in an intimate environment, giving rise to emotional engagement in ways not possible in large venues. Our overarching goal is to provide a place for culture and performing arts to come together to inform the community of our common cross cultural connections while celebrating our unique traditions.
