Project Description

MTW will increase our Education & Outreach programs to allow more at-risk students to participate in our Traveling Theatre Productions. We plan to tour “Rush the Musical” free to local youth in partnership with LB Libraries, LB Parks & Rec and LBUSD. MTW will provide students with a fully staged musical that includes professional actors, full-costumes and scenery, teacher and student study guides and a post-show Q and A for local youth—many of whom have never seen a live theatre performance.

Organization Summary

MTW is Southern California’s premier musical theatre company. In our 2019-2020 season, we produced “Something Rotten”, “Holiday Inn” and “Ragtime”, but were forced to reschedule “Mame” and the West coast priemiere of “Treasure Island” into our 2021-2022 season due to Covid-19 closures.

Our Broadway in Concert series features established Broadway performers and touring musical acts. In 2019 we had three shows in this series, including: “Sam Harris, Let Me Sing”, “David Burnham & Tami Tappan Damiano, A Broadway Romance” and “Terri Bibb, Once Upon a Song”.

MTW provides arts educational opportunities to students in Long Beach, LA and OC. In 19-20, we offered 17,000+ children/students (ages 3-18) an introduction to live theatre through student matinee performances, classroom visits, traveling theatre productions, residency with Wilson High School, Renaissance High School for the Arts & Orange County School of the Arts, as well as our Youth Ambassador Council and high school scholarships.
