Project Description
With support from the California Arts Council, Music for Minors Inc will provide its In-School Music Education Program of standards-based music education to 25,000 students in elementary schools from San Bruno to San Jose. The comprehensive, culturally-diverse music program, presented in weekly 30-minute lessons, includes music learning objectives tailored for each grade level & gives students a variety of experiences in singing, movement, theory, dance, musical games, and rhythmic instruments.
Organization Summary
MFM’s core program delivers weekly, standards-based music instruction to preschool–6th grade students. Our trained teaching artists lead 30–45-minute in-class lessons for approximately 18-30 weeks per school year, incorporating singing, movement, rhythm, percussion, and music literacy. Lessons are culturally responsive and support social-emotional learning while reinforcing classroom content, fostering student confidence, collaboration, and creativity.
