With support from the California Arts Council, Music at the Mission will deliver Artist Residencies with strong standards-based music curriculum at 2 Fremont schools for the second year. Residencies empower students to use the universal language of music to express their unique voices. Students learn classical composition techniques, are mentored while creating a group work, get coached on ensemble playing, rehearse, and perform their work side-by-side with Teaching Artists at a school concert.
Music at the Mission’s 16-member ensemble of musicians from the San Francisco Bay Area comprise Music at the Mission Chamber Players, who perform in ensembles of various sizes with guest artists. We create innovative chamber music experiences for audiences with opportunities to interact with musicians. Our season programs include:
— 3 Evening Concerts in Old Mission San Jose
— 2 Salon Series Performances in homes
— Free Community Mini-Concert in a non-traditional setting
— 4-6 Outreach Performances Project lecture-demonstrations in schools
— Artists residency program for 2 Fremont schools (Artists in Schools Program)
— Student ChamberFest summer intensive for young musicians
— Commission and premiere a new work every 2 seasons
