With support from the California Arts Council, the Museo Italo Americano will be able to continue to offer quality exhibits, lectures and educational programs to the general public.
• Our current programs reach 20,000 people of all ages and ethnicities each year.
• We offer several highly anticipated art exhibitions annually; year-round Italian language and literature courses; music, lecture, and film programs; and colorful cultural celebrations.
• Our Children’s Italian Art Outreach (C.I.A.O.) program brings in-school art and history classes to over 300 Bay Area middle school students annually, free of cost.
• The Museo maintains a permanent collection of nearly 750 pieces of art including paintings, sculptures, photographs, and works on paper by prominent Italian and Italian-American artists. Included are several works by such internationally recognized artists as Benny Bufano, Giorgio De Chirico, Lawrence Ferlinghetti, Irene Lagorio, Tom Marioni, Tina Modotti, Gottardo Piazzoni, and Arnaldo Pomodoro.
• The Museo’s Historical Archive Project collects, catalogues and displays photos, documents and artifacts that tell the story of Italian immigration to California.
