With support from the California Arts Council, Mother Lode Community Radio will conduct a local documentation project to preserve and protect Tuolumne County’s rural Americana music heritage. Utilizing at-risk youth to help with the documentation, this inter-generational project will introduce the county’s American Roots musical legacy to the next generation.
Mother Lode Community Radio operates KAAD-LP, 103.5 FM, a community radio station that broadcasts to the Sonora area from the Historic Sonora Dome. We also stream globally at kaad-lp.org. Besides music, we offer a wide variety of original and community-based content, focusing on such topics as the local literary scene, story-telling, theatre, local history, wellness, hiking and equestrian arts. We operate a studio on the Cassina High Continuation School campus where we have offered training for students and adults in audio production. The studio serves as rehearsal and performance space for community forums, music and theatrical performance. We also field record, broadcast and stream festivals and events in the community and have recently began the process of selected radio programs.
