With support from the California Arts Council, Mission Peak Chamber Singers will survive the challenges brought on by the Covid-19 pandemic. We have struggled to remain financially strong due to decreased membership and tickets sales revenue. We desire to continue our mission to inspire audiences through choral music.
Mission Peak Chamber Singers, Inc., a community based performing arts organization, oversees and manages two choirs: the non-auditioned, free East Bay People’s Choir (EBPC) and the auditioned Mission Peak Chamber Singers (MPCS). Formerly known as the Ohlone College Singers, MPCS Incorporated in 2014 when choral arts funding for California community colleges was withdrawn. Since incorporation and prior to the pandemic, the MPCS choir presented 3 concerts each season, rendering beautiful performances of complex choral music of various styles and periods to a faithful and growing audience. In 2018, formation of the EBPC created access to the choral experience to everyone with a desire to sing. Rehearsals are free of charge and all performances are also free. A proud recipient of California Arts Council Local Impact grants in 2019 and 2020, the EBPC chorus is administered by the MPCS Board of Directors under the leadership of an Associate Director in collaboration with the MPCS Artistic Director. Our fiscal year is August 1 – July 31. The rehearsal and concert season for both choirs is September – May.
