With support from the California Arts Council, Mendocino Dance Project will offer year round programming in creative movement and dance. Movement is introduced to students through a series of creative projects that help them to learn how to communicate concepts, ideas and emotions with the body.
Mendocino Dance Project is a dynamic and athletic dance organization that is making dances inside theaters and in outside spaces, on and off the ground. It is committed to helping art thrive in small communities, bringing inspired and original work to rural areas throughout Northern California and creating opportunities for people to participate and engage in the arts. In addition to performing and creating original shows, Mendocino Dance Project teaches creative movement in local schools, vertical dance in the redwood trees, dance for people living with Parkinson’s Disease, and offers a variety of workshops, classes and summer camps in the community aimed at connecting people to their bodies and to nature. Mendocino Dance Project values artistic collaborations and forms partnerships with other organizations contributing to the arts and culture in Northern California.
