With support from the California Arts Council, MARIN MUSEUM OF CONTEMPORARY ART will provide every 4th grade student in Novato, where 46% are ethnically diverse, with instruction by professional artists, culminating in a docent-led visit to the local art museum. At the museum, the students will tour the current exhibition, learning museum etiquette and art appreciation. Onsite demonstrations and a studio art class taught by professional artists will complete the experience.
The Marin Museum of Contemporary Art (MarinMOCA) supports the growth of the Bay Area arts ecosystem through exhibitions, public programs, and educational initiatives that educate students, at-risk populations, and the whole community. We have a multi-decade track record of providing service to Marin County and beyond, with three galleries, a museum store, classrooms, and affordable studios for over 50 working artists. MarinMOCA provides dozens of low-cost public art classes taught by professional artists, educational programs, and art exhibitions that attract more than 18,000 visitors per year. Through our education and social justice initiatives, we provide no-cost arts-enrichment exposure to hundreds of 4th and 5th grade students in the diverse Novato school district, a free program for families, and webinars/lectures/exhibitions advancing social justice.
