Project Description

With support from the California Arts Council, MANILATOWN HERITAGE FOUNDATION will offer indigenous pre-colonial Philippine music and dance instruction at San Francisco’s International Hotel Manilatown Center. The “Kommunity Kultura” program will offer a monthly beginner-level workshop for all ages and regular advanced training and presentation opportunities for continuing students. Kommunity Kultura will be a free and family-friendly program open to the general public.

Organization Summary

The Manilatown Heritage Foundation’s core program is to maintain the legacies of San Francisco’s historic Manilatown neighborhood and the 1977 International Hotel Eviction by maintaining the International Hotel Manilatown Center as both a memorial to these legacies and as a multipurpose community gathering space for creative expressions relevant to today’s community.
