Project Description

With support from the California Arts Council, the Manilatown Heritage Foundation will present “Manilatown Suite”, a live Jazz-Kulintang-Gangsa concert inspired by San Francisco’s historic Manilatown neighborhood, the 1977 International Hotel Eviction and today’s Manilatown community. Seven collaborating artists will compose and stage the work and engage the community through open rehearsals, moderated talks and a free live performance at San Francisco’s International Hotel Manilatown Center.

Organization Summary

The Manilatown Heritage Foundation’s core program is to maintain the legacies of San Francisco’s historic Manilatown neighborhood and the 1977 International Hotel Eviction by maintaining the International Hotel Manilatown Center as both a memorial to these legacies and as a multipurpose community gathering space for creative expressions relevant to today’s community.
