Project Description

The mission of Luna Dance Institute (LDI) is to bring creativity, equity, and community to every child’s life through the art of dance. LDI’s purpose is to work with artists, educators, parents, and other stakeholders to fulfill this Theory of Change (ToC):

• Children Embody the Future – Children are born with instincts to love, move and play in relationship to the important adults in their lives (primary caregivers and teachers). Children naturally learn through movement and play and their innate curiosity propels them to investigate what is known and imagine what is possible.

• Dance Cultivates Creativity – Creating while moving distinguishes dance from other art forms. Physical body, thoughtful mind, and expressive soul acting together makes us human. Through creativity humans continue to survive and evolve a world of multiple cultures comprised of individuals and groups

• Policy Sustains Equity – We join with allies to champion systemic change in arts, education and social justice, and invite public dialogue about equity, aesthetic, power and privilege.

Luna Dance Institute’s ToC is guided by inquiry into what is possible when an organization is dedicate to in defending children’s freedom. By questioning assumptions and imagining the possible, LDI’s goal is change within one generation.
