Project Description

With support from the California Arts Council, the Los Angeles Philharmonic Association will provide six school-day concerts to 13,500 students and teachers in Southern California at Walt Disney Concert Hall, or virtually if COVID-19 restrictions prevent in-person attendance, along with supplemental curriculum materials for teachers.

Organization Summary

The LA Phil fulfills its mission through a combination of subscription concerts, education programs, community presentations, tours, and recordings that reflect its commitment to quality, innovation, and diversity. More than one million people attend the 300 classical, jazz, world music, and pop concert offerings performed and presented by the LA Phil at Walt Disney Concert Hall, the Hollywood Bowl, and The Ford each year.

Central to the LA Phil’s mission is an investment in its social role and responsibility to its community. The organization’s belief in social responsibility found expression in the choice of Gustavo Dudamel, a major force on the international conducting scene and an outspoken advocate for youth education, as the LA Phil’s eleventh Music Director. With his leadership, the LA Phil brings its expertise and broad reach to bear through educational programs reaching more than 40,000 children and families every year, including the Youth Orchestra LA (YOLA) program.
